Oakley Hall III

I highly recommend checking out the documentary ‘The Loss Of Nameless Things” - the story of Oakley Hall III.  An up and coming playwright who helped create and run the  Lexington Conservatory Theatre in upstate New York.  He had a terrible accident, falling off a bridge near the theatre which left him with brain damage and a lifelong struggle to get back to where he was.  Really a touching film and an inspiring story.

Cold Antler Farm

One of the sites I frequent is Cold Antler Farm.  I had bought Jenna Woginrich’s book, ‘Made From Scratch’, awhile back and have followed her blog for awhile.  She has a farm up in New York and has lots going on with all the animals and such.  Good writing and a good group of homesteaders follow.  Go check it out..if you dare.

Battle of Chickamauga

Well it’s almost September which around these parts means Battle of Chickamauga time!  Fought on 9/18-20 1863, it’s just up ther road in the beautiful rolling hills of NW GA.  I went to a reenactment back in 2008 and made a little song and video for the event…see ya on the battlefield!

Driving down from the mountains

I’m about to pack up the old truck, head out of the woods and down to the city for the big show tonight at the Earl. Looking forward to playing some new stuff and a couple oldies.  I will have my new album available and ready to disperse among the crowds.

Georgia Mountains Episode

So I’ve gotten lots of great responses about my most recent Trappers Cabin Radio Show (Episode #9 – Georgia Mountains).  I thought I would post some video of that old time couple I was talking about along with the howling dog.  You may want to mute the radio player on the right side of the column so you can hear the dog in all it’s glory! So here ya go.

Thanks to 90.5 WUOG (Athens, GA)

Thanks much to WUOG 90.5 in Athens for inviting Trappers Cabin over to play for them.  We also sat around for awhile afterword and played guest DJ.  We jammed out some Jerry Reed, Neil Young, Smoke and other greats for the listening audience in the great land of Athens.  We plan on doing more events with WUOG so stay tuned.

David Berkeley’s new album

Long time friend and musician David Berkeley has a new album out entitled ‘Some Kind of Cure’.  Full of real doozies this album is quite the keeper. A great book David has written accompanies the album entitled ’140 Goats & A Guitar’.  Sort of chapter per song flow, full of tales and imagery of his life over seas on the island of Corsica.  Living in a small village as strangers with his wife and small boy.  It’s a great album and we miss him since he has moved out west from Atlanta but yet another child (boy) came and westward expansion was on.  Trappers Cabin makes a couple guest appearances on David Berkeley’s new album “Some Kind of Cure”. Go get it and keep an ear out for the Trappers man
